Audiobahn Voicecoil blowout
My friends just installed a brand new Audiobahn AW1571SE 4 Ohm Dual Voice Coil Sub in his car with a 1600W Power Acoustic PS2-1600 Amp wired Mono going to it. He said it sounded extremely good with no distortion for a few minutes then all of a sudden he smelled a weird burning smell and then the voice coil went on it and its 98% distorted with teh voice coil rattling everywhere.
He wired it like this:
------ /-----\
|+ ---------- + +
Amp | SUB
|- ---------- - -
------ \_____/
I thought that maybe the resistance at this kind of wiring may be so low that the amp blew the voicecoil.
I told him i would have wired it like this
------
|+ ---------- + ---- +
Amp | / SUB
|- -------- - / -
------ \__________/
I am not sure if maybe the sub just has a manufacturer defect or what. He cannot return it as it was purchased online.

whoah those diagrams didnt work out....
He wired both posotive & negative wires to + and - on one side, then jumped each over in parallel to the + & - on the other side.
I recommended the posotive to go to the + on one side, the negative to the - on the other side, then a jump wire between the left over + and -.

Probably tried to put rated RMS power into it and blew it...
Take anything audiobahn says their subs / amps can take or put out, and cut it in half... best case.
and those diagrams make no sense, need a pic.
