Big 3 Question
Since Jalapy has been delaying for like a month now I'm gonna go ahead and do it myself but I just had a question is an in-line fuse from the alt to the battery necessary/recommended?

many cars are manufactured with a fuse or fusible link on their alternators output, you cant tell it is there 90% of the time.
All fusing is optional in car audio guys minds UNTILL something bad happens... and when something bad happens you can and will have a much more severe fire. Proper fusing near the battery, on the large wire to the stereo in the trunk protects the car and the stereo from a large electrical load/ fault in the stereo or a short in the power wire to the cars chassis. Fusing from the alt to the battery limits the damage if something happens to the cars electrical system or the battery with the car running.

A question should be asked on how many fuses, and where, between the alternator and battery. Both are power sources, and depending where the short occurs, one of them will not be protected.
I say dont use a fuse(s) (I chose not to) or to use 2, both within 6 inches from the source.
