Blown fronts, now want 6 speakers wired, please help
Hi there,
I need some advice from you experts, please!!!
I currently have Pioneer 6x9 4-way coax rear, Massive brand 4" coax front (in my dash), Phoenix Gold 800w 4-channel amp (has crossover with LPF and HPF). This is running off an Alpine cda105 head unit with Imprint processor as well. Also there is a Kenwood 800w 4 channel amp driving an Alpine type R 10" sub.
I think I've blown my front speakers, which were only rated 50w RMS ... reason is, is that now sound comes out of the tweeters themselves but only sound from the cones. I thought I would hear them pop or hear distortion before they blew, but instead what happened was I just noticed at some later point that there were no highs coming from them.
Question: is it typical or even possible for a speaker to not give any popping or distortion, but just suddenly go silent when it's blown?
So now I have been given a pair of 6.5" JBL speakers with enclosures by a good friend. He suggests I attach them up front on my door panels to balance out my highs.
I am tempted to not only use the 6.5" JBL's, but also replace my 4" speakers with new ones. In total, I will have 6 speakers in the car plus one subwoofer.
Question: I want to treat the 4" and the 6.5" as my fronts, and the 6x9 as my rear, such that the HU fader would be able to fade between the 4" and 6.5" as a group of front speakers and the 6x9 speakers as rear. How do I make this possible? Would I need to get more equipment, and what would that be? Can the amp off the HU be used for anything?

personaly id run a four channel for the 4 front speakers and deck power for the rear, but it may make the rears less audiable the way i guess you could do it so that you could still use your fader is to put "y" adapters out of your front pre out to use only front out put for your four front speakers umm the reasen why i would use a four channel for the fronts instead of wiring together at two ohms s because its nice to be able to tune the speakers individualy on the amp , hope it helps.
