blown sub, amp question
#1
hey... i know this may be a stupid question but if anyone knows the answer i know i will find it here.
my question is if i connect my amp to a very crappy sub simply to make the sub pop. (hopefully shoot the cone right out) would that damage my amp in any way.... like the amp can give out much more then the speaker can handle. will one simple burp (to blow the sub) damage the amp?

Umm, the coil shorting is touching + to -. And you have no control over whether you end up with a shorted or open coil. What amp and sub are we taliking about here, I highly doubt anything is going to shoot out or start on fire or anything cool like that. Bets bet is to plug the sub into the wall socket in the shop.
