I have had a few old decks that started skipping. I just replaced them. Is it skipping over bumps or with bass notes or just randomly? Your laser assembly would be getting tired, or your "laser assembly suspension" could be toast (keeps things semi level over bumps, etc).

Just a few ideas. Unfortunately, if you cleaned it properly and reassembled it correctly and it is still having issues, it might be a better bet to replace the deck than to try to repair it.

Good luck man.

its just on bass notes. i was hoping i wouldn't have to replace just because i've grown so attached to this deck, but i guess all good things have to come an end

Those settings have to do with the slope of your eq. I haven't played much with it before.

well is it good if i leave the gains on the amp the same with the new deck? or should i change them? i mean, they're both pioneers, but i know the 4000ub puts out a higher voltage, and it is considerably louder at the same volume. i'm just wondering if i should readjust my gains because of the higher voltage output

I would reset my gains. New deck for me usually means retuning my whole system. It just depends on 2 things really.
1. Are your speakers or subwoofer distorting?
2. Do you like how it sounds?

well i was just thinking the gains are set the same which means the amp output is unchanged. i guess that means that the signal in the rcas play a bigger role than i thought. too be honest it sounds fine, just with more bass. the only thing i didn't like was the fact that it nearly drowned out my regular speakers, so i was was going to turn it down until i found that feature to control sub output.
