I visited a californian car audio dealer yesterday (i'm travelling on business) and we had some pretty cool discussions on various things.

One of the things we chatted about were the baffles below and how regardless of the product, they drastically help midbass performance in door installs.

Has anyone tried these?

these came stock in my ford taurus, And they actually do improve sound overall I found. I also had these in my Crown Victoria, but didnt notice a difference with or without them in that car.

 

i can get those through a supplier, thought about trying them but havn't heard anything good or bad about them

 

given that most door speakers are designed to play IB(infinite baffle) or in a large enclosure...your door...I would think these baffles would give a large upper midbass peak in response. I'm not saying that's bad, as only your ears can be the judge of that, and in many cases the cross over point may be high enough that low mid bass frequencies are not played anyway. I've never used them myself, so I can't judge, but if they sound good or improve the sound in your opinion, then it's well worth the small investement. I know they're great for moisture prtection.

 

I cut them in half and use them as rain hats when mounting speakers in doors

 

maybe would work for midbass, but that's about it.

If you do use them, saturate them with resin. Then they will be nice and solid. Used them many of times. They help ALOT with trunks that use rear speakers. Helps to keep the sub pressure out of the rears.
