Extra door panel clearance
#1
I have been doing some planning on my system and I just realized that my door panels need approx 1.5-2 inches of extra clearance. I have approx. 2.5 inches of clearance and the driver is approx. 3 5/8 inches deep. Any ideas on how to do this. I was considering glassing the door panel, but from what I have heard, this is not really a permanant thing, as it will crack over time because of the door slamming and temperature change. Any ideas/pictures would be appreciated.

i have the same problem in my grand am.i was told you can use longer bolts in the window track to space it back 1/2 to 3/4 inch. i have not tried this but you may be able to do soemthing like that in your car
if there is room between the door and the door pannel you could stick a mdf spacer in there. pm me if you need some

hm, I never measured mine. My midbass dropped in and I never thought twice about it. They are only 2.25" deep though. I can tell you that with the factory spacer in place, a 1/4" abs mounting adaptor, and a few layers of brownbread in there, the woofer snuggles right up behind the panel so forget about adding much for extra spacers there.
