Talking Fiberglassed ported box

Hey guys, I am going to be building a fiberglass box in my Stang which is going to utilize the wheelwell to get more volume for the box. My question is will it be okay to build an irregularly shaped ported box? I know it's okay to have odd shaped sealed boxes but will this affect the sound on a ported box?
The box will basically be the circular wheelwell with a larger rectangular shape on top to complete the box. The sub and port will be facing upwards. Itried transferring a drawing of the box to this post, damn, now we have to use our imaginations.

I forgot to mention, the sub box will be the exact ported volume recommended by the manufacturer. 15" DD 9515

Yep, very possible. This was my Daytona's setup:

And my 88 Mustang GT:

Backside of the top lid (it was screwed to the fiberglas tub once in the car, you can see the marker outline of the tub)

I think the tub for the Mustang above is still in my shed if you are interested.
