Sub question

I have been told different things about this and i need to know what is up
i have two alpine type r subs which i plan to run off my lightning audio 1000 watt mono block amp
anyways, the problem is the idiot who sold me theese subs sold me two mismatched subs (one being dual 2 0hm voice coill and the other being single 4 ohm) i was wondering if it is possible to run theese two subs off my amp without problems or am i forced to go out and find a matching pair.
thanks alot.

If you're amplifier can handle a two ohm mono load (being that it's a mono amp I would hope so) then you're OK with the subs you have.
Series the coils on the DVC model for a four ohm total load & then parallel wire it with the other four ohm SVC model for a two ohm load to the amplifier.
Not an ideal situation, but it'll work just fine.

series...... parallel?
wow
i dont really know how i would go about doing that.
right now on the dvc sub i have the 2 + terminals wired together and the 2 - terminals wired together aswell and then just a plus and a minus to the terminals on the box..... is that what you mean?

ok here's the simple version... on the dual 2 ohm sub, there should be a black and red side by side, and then another black and red side by side.

call one set coil 1, call the other coil 2.

take the red from coil 1, hook it to the red terminal on your sub box.

take the black from coil 1, hook it to the red from coil 2

take the black from coil 2, hook it to the black terminal on your box.

that is Series.

then take the other sub black terminal to the black on the box, and the red terminal to the red terminal on the box.

starting to make sense...

Kay and then on the amp there is 2 positives and 2 negatives.....
i assume they just match up normally with the terminals from the back of the box?

I can't promise that. all I can promise is that the subs will be wired right.
