first amp install
Trust me, if 3 places quoted you an hour, you are in better shape than me. Glad to hear it.
Your engine is probably more advanced. Dont think mine is 32v.
My alt is not "halfway down", its almost beside the pan on the pass side
. If the serp. belt ever goes, I'm in trouble.

that doesn't sound too planned out?, is it a tight fit in the engine bay?
I hope mine is not too bad, I am trying to see about getting a used alt to replace mine anyone know any sources?

so the main thing holding me off the install was wiring, I am waiting to hear back from a member on here.
I have finally got fed up and checked the my pricing for the amp kits while I was at work today.
I can get quite good deals on the i connect, stinger and monster cables kits. Anyone have any reasons to not choose the monster 4g kit?

So waiting to hear back from a bud who is a supplier of american bass on his wiring prices, thought I would tell you guys though, I saw the 4g welding wire is on sale at princess auto for $1.29/foot
Hoping to start the install sat after work.

Ok, forgot about your post, srry.
The GOOD thing about the amp kit is includes power, ground, and remote wire, inline fuse, RCA connects (one long set normally) to reach your amp if its near the back, or in your trunk.
BAD thing is you can normally get all that stuff cheaper, or REAL cheap if you buy used. Someone on here probably has what you need.
I might run a larger power wire to a disro block somewhere close to where your amp (and future amps?) are located, then run the 4 AWG to the amp. Just a short little run, 18" max.
Big gauge wire (like 1/0) is not cheap however. Dont forget to use the same gauge wire for grounding as you do power.
There's a ton of info on the board about all of this, plus the other fellow is coming to help right? Of course, a different answer on your part may have been "sure, bring whatever you want, but not for me or not on my property cause I'm not into it, but hey, feel free".
, thats just my opinion though, and its worth what you paid for it.
Oh, I think FORD planned my alternator perfectly. For them. Seriously though, the engineers are asked to do the impossible on todays cars, especially on packaging issues.
If I had a 4.6 or 5.4 the alt would be 10 minutes, but what can you do.
Post or pm if you need advice.

Hey John
I have decided not to go with the amp kit as I am not doing a typical install (using a loc out of the stock sub)
I already bought a interconnect and have been piecing together other pieces (battery terminals etc)
It also seems to work out cheaper to get the wire length you need (cheaply) then to get two amp kits.
I thought about going with 0/1 or even 2gauge but this will be the only amp in this car (new car in the summer)
As I look back I agree I could have handled my response to 420's bud question better, I agree with your answer, I think I was in a bad mood that day.
