Hello everybody, im going to attempt to build my first vented enclosure and I would like for you guys to give me some feedback on my design. My main concerns are the vents, im wondering if im breaking any rules with the way i have my box designed? The following is a diagram of my box from top view, it does not include all my calculations, just some that are related to the vent. If anyone needed to know, each chamber is 2.25cF PLUS the vent at 0.44cF, according to Kicker, this is supposed to tune my box @ 38Hz. I also made the box a bit oddly shaped because of the restriction of some dimensions in my trunk and i didn't want to have to "bend" the vent. i just don't wanna screw it up...lol, so please tell me if you see anything wrong here: if you have any further questions please ask.

I'd shorten the vent length a couple inches.

The "wall effect", and that extra 4 1/2" section will act like extra port, and lower your tune point.

alright, this raises another few questions for me...lol..from the specs that "kicker" gave, they claim that the box will be tuned to 38Hz, my question is, IS that too high? I've read other peoples posts before and i typically see people tuning their boxes to low 30's even mid 20's. Should i take kickers advice and tune @ 38hz or should I tune to something else and redesign my box? I'd like to know what a "typical" tuning is that most people would recommend for me as i listen to all types of music, most regularly dance/trance and rock/metal. Also if this makes any difference, the subs I'm trying to build a vented box for are kicker Comp VR's. Thanks guys.

I have another question....if i were to redesign my box with a bending vent, do i have to add half the height of the vent to the total length for "EVERY" 90 degree bend? through what i brainstormed, i might have to have atleast 2-3 90 degree bends.

If anything, the bends will add friction, making the ports act longer than they are....you'd need to subtract 1/2 the diameter for each bend, as well as for the wall effect.

The Kickers will give a nice, flat output tuned high, and still maintain a good punch. Tuning lower will get you more low bass extension, at the cost of reduced output, and less controlled bass.

If in doubt, tune higher, as the final result will almost always be lower than predicted.

I made a box like that before and had great output in my suv . I think the ports in your design is good - for every day street beating u will have no problem. Another question i have for is what amp are u running ?? If your using 2 12 in your design and say 250wats each it should be fine
