I had been looking for an late model mirror from an GM/ Chev. You know the 1 with the Compas and Tempature built into the display. Well I finaly got 1 today ( thanks Tony ). Looks to be from an 2003ish.

It has 1 red,black,green,black with white strip and an green with white stip wires coming of the harnes. What my ?? is does it need an out side senser for either the temp or comp. Any 1 have 1 that is working? Red = hot, black= ground OK, what about the rest??? Does it read inside and out side temp.or just 1. I guessing the way it looks that the compas is built onto the mirrors window bracket.

Any and all ideas would be thanked.I'd post an picture but I don't know how.

I believe a temperature sensor gets mounted in front of your radiator. If it is the same as my car it is mounted to the rad support just behind my grill. The same as the following picture.



Here is a write up on installing an overhead console into an ImpalaSS. The overhead console has both a compass and a temperature readout.

The link has wiring instructions related to this application, but it might help you some.

As far as the compass goes, I have both a mirror and an overhead console compass and I believe the compass is built into the unit itself.

^^ Thanks my friend. That gave me an direction. The wiring in the link is for 6 wires. Mine has 5. Go figure! The temp. sensor is just what I'm looking for in this aplication. I'll send ya an P.M.
