Grounding kit

i was planning on making my own grounding kit for my engine bay cuz i didnt feel like buying one for $300+.
my question is where exactly are you supposed to run the wires to? cuz iv seen some with 5 and some with as much as 10.
also, should each grounding point have its own sepperate run or should some be linked with others.....?
