Hifonics Amp Kill Switch

So i have seen a couple people put a kill switch on their amps and today i chose to do the same. I know it can be bad for the amp and all that but whatever. I was told that you put the switch through your remote wire between the head unit and amp. I purchased a regular toggle switch from my local electronics store and cut my remote wire and attached them to each end of the switch. When i turned it all back on my amp wouldnt turn on. No matter what position the switch was in it didnt work! What the hell happened? Any advice or instruction is greatly appreciated.

having a kill switch shouldn't have any effect on the amp's performance etc.

It sounds like something grounded out, or the switch was wired up incorrectly. Was there just two prongs to hook up to? Or is it a light up switch/something similar?

Yea i heard about the light thing so i purposely got a switch with no light so i wouldnt have to ground it. And yet the switch just has two wires coming out of it so i assumed you just cut the wire and attach each side to one of the wires coming from the switch. But still its not working. Whats dealio?

get a multimeter, put it on continuity, put one end of the meter on one of the toggle switch leads put the other end of the meter on the other lead and see if there is continuity. In the "on" position there will be continuity, if the switch is working correctly.
