trying to get a deck in a freinds car and we cant get the old system out it comes out about inch then binds up and that it? i thinki have tried looking in every hole i can to see whats hanging it up with no luck have i over looked somthing?

Try removing more of the dash, if he is not the first owner someone may have removed it beor causing a prolme. Some one pulled the deck out of my escort and somehow damaged the locking mechanism so it was realy hard to get the deck to clip out.

 

i think there is a nut you acess under the ashtray hole its a 10 mil
if thats the right car
or is it the one where the radio and heater bezel are the same
the older ones had a bezel where you had two screws on the top and one at the front lip of the ashtray
then pull the bezel off and you have two screws infront of you and the nut underneath in the ashtray holder
the caprice after that is a little more complicated

 

radio/heater are all one from the looks of it
