How to wire two subs to mono amp
#11
i havent hooked the p3s in my car yet but i have it hooked to my amp in my house to my stereo and it sounds really clean and deep bass compared to my W7s. But my amp keeps powering, the gain is set to 0 but my bass eq was up halfway. It played fine for a day but the next day wen i tryed to beef it up it shut off the amp. but i turned the bass eq all the way down now so i hope it doesnt turn off the amp anymore

Ok, so I need some help after all this time I ended up selling the XXX's because they suck and bought a RF p3s because it was cheap I just go my car wired for my amp last week and i got my p3s and my m850 in the car. It sounded pretty good but i wanted to try out my w7's. I originally thought eh 8"ers are not going to sound as good as my p3 12, but they hit harder and deeper than the 12 and they sound really nice and they had tight hits.
So i decided i would keep the 8s and buy a new box but my question is, how can i wire my two 8" JL W7 subs that are 500rms at 3 ohm to my Alpine MRP-M850 monoblock amp 800rms @ 2ohm and 500rms @ 4ohm?
I want to run my subs at 500 watts each and my amp is not 1ohm stable. I dont know much about how to calculate resistances but could anyone show me or give me a diagram on how to wire them the right way? Also i dont want to buy a new amp for it.

quick question, were you swapping all these drivers in the same box? or you had different boxes made specifically for each driver you were testing? ... also your 2ohm amp might be able to handle 1.5ohm load (wire it parallel and measure impudence- many times its off by quite a bit, so if its 1.7-1.8 or lil more you should be ok) if you wanna be safe you can always get a power resistor (2x 1 ohm 100W wired in parallel creating equivalent of .5ohm 200w resistor... 1 ohms are significantly cheaper than .5 for some reason)

Run them in parallel at 1.5 ohms. The box rise should keep them above 2-3 ohms hopefully. As long as you have good clean wiring and ground, and a decent battery, that amp should be okay at 1.5 ohms. Do NOT get a resistor.

What do u mean by box rise? And i have a stock battery and ive been running the subs witth the way they are already wired and i havent had any issues with the car starting and running. And to run parallel do u have to have two wires come directly out of the amp or can u run a short wire about three feet long and tgen connect the two wires, because the way they are hoocked up now there is just two wires coming out of the box but it seems like they are in parallel
