I recently posted in 'The donut shop" my plans to install a Beta VCR and 3.5" B&W tv in my car..
Now..doing some looking and some rough measuring,I find that the the screen would fit(up and down and side to side) in the spot where my factory head unit would be(remember,this is a Sunbird..3 pc radio..small little head unit in the dash,amp hidden in the dash,and a cassette in a center console peice).
What I am wondering is if I would have a enough room behind for all the innards to fit in as well.
As well,going with the idea of disassembling the TV,where would I mount the rotary tuner?
And no....I"M NOT ON CRACK!....lol
I think I have covered the basics of what I have in mind..
Care to share any ideas?
Please keep in mind,we may not go thru with this prject in this car...I am currently looking for another car,so I am holding off for now..but would like to know the possibilities if I did go thru with it..

I just measured that radio ... I haave one at work. The unit itself is only about 3" deep. I imagine that GM probably gave another 1/2" to 1" for wires ... so there ya go.

If anything, there's no better way than to try it. The heads on those cars are not exactly impossible to remove.

On anotyher note, maybe your could put that TV down in the spot where the tape deck is? Then put a real unit in the littlesquare spot. Just a suggestion.

Here's my setup right now....

Where the old head unit was(futur home for the TV) I have a Tach.....

Down where the cassette should be,I have the CD...

Now what I was also thinking is this....

The center peice where the CD is was added in after I got it....its not truly a factory original peice(I have receiptes to prove it)I am thinking of ripping that out,get a underdash mounting kit for the CD,then mount the TV to the lower center console.But in doing this,the shifter maybe in the way of the screen....

I feel this maybe a trial and error type of thing....SIGH........

Shifter MIGHT be in front of the screen in park (or 1st, whatever). Buit, when in drive ... I doubt a problem.

I mean, a tape goes into the deck when the car is in park, should be enuf clearance. Oh, and tere's more room behind the tape deck.

At the back of the factory 'tuner cube' there is an H shaped plastic support and behind that it is pretty open as that is where the 'brain' of the factory stereo is. should beenuf room for that TV should you decide to do it.

I thought you bought that messed up Dynasty???
