Question

I am currently running a Rockford 400s (400RMSx1)
and an MTX 150.2 (100RMSx2) off of 8 guage power cables w/ 1 farad cap.

I've been told I should switch to 4 gauge.

I also may be changing the MTX amp to a Rockford 550x (70RMSx4)

Should I do this?
Do I need to do this?
Why?

Thanks for any info.

Cool

does your amplifier go into protect, after running it hard??too small of wire can eventually lead to amplifier failure, as will insufficient battery capacity.it makes the amps heat up,and components degrade from that heat.
using larger size, such as 1/0, will allow extra room for amplifier upgrades

but but but... how do you use anything larger then 4 gage when the amps, speakers, etc terminals won't except anything thicker?

actually yah, my amp has shut down after a couple hours of high volume. i got a 1 farad cap after my lights would dim a bit, thought using it in my truck would mean that my alt would be powerful enough, guess not

so, i guess when i get my 4ch amp installed, i'll just have them change out the 8 guage for 4 guage.

thanks for all your info guys.
