Installing a Clarion EQS746 EQ

I was given a brand new Clarion EQS746 EQ and I'm not sure how to install it. I have a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT HU. The back of the HU has Front, Rear and Sub Outputs. I know I am suppose to connect the EQ Main In to one of the Outputs on the HU. But Which one? I read you could connect it to either the front or rear. But if I do that does that mean only the front or the rear works? I'm no expert with car audio but I'm not a noob either. I just want to make sure I hook it up right the first time. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Hello and welcome to the Forum, I think that has a main input and a Aux input. Most times it is for people that may only have 1 set of RCA output from the HU and want to be able to set the levels for all stages, Front, Rear and Sub. Then the Eq also comes with a Aux input that loads of people with lower quality head units (NOT a nice one likes yours) can use for the IPOD and still have it go out to the system.

How how to HOOK it up? I am not sure what it offers that your HU don't right now. Most times it is great to be able to make some adjustments without having to play in menus. Most times the EQ is set and left that way. Your HU has preset EQ and I think has some that you can save for your own liking. Plus you can even do Auto EQ on your HU if I remember right.

Guess I am just wondering why? Maybe it offers some sound that your hU can't adjust...

To your question. Hook it to your Rear out from the HU. Most times it is set for best Full Range and less likely that someone may change a setting in the HU for High range.

U could pick front or rear but again I would go with rear output but that is just me.

Wish you luck
James

Thanks for your reply!
If I hook it up to the rear out then won't the eq only work on the rear? Hook it to the front out it will only work on the front?
Could I use a y adapter so the eq will work on both front and rear?

This is where I am getting confused.

Sadly if you use this EQ there is no need to use the EQ in the head unit.

This EQ is most set up for people that don't have a Head unit with all 3 outputs So when you hook that up to your head unit you don't really get anything besides the ability to use the turn dials on your EQ for your system...

By using this EQ unless it was only going to be used for running your Subs, Then you would use the Front and Rear on the HU to your 4ch amp or 2 2ch amps, Then you could use the sub output to the EQ but leave the setting in the HU Flat and use the EQ to change the Sub Amp.......

So in the END, For ME and again this is just me, With your Head Unit with the Front, Rear and Sub out already there would be no need for me to use this EQ

If I had only a Head unit with 1 RCA output then yes this could get your Front, Rear, and Sub outs.....

No you can't use a Y RCA ONE THERE IS ONLY 1 IMPUT A Y would be trying to take a 1 output from your deck to 2 amps.
