First off...I don't excpect the same results...as I stated before this stuff was designed to absorb upper 200HZ freq's...Brown bread does only under 100HZ...which IN THEORY ISN"T MUCH ACOUSTICLY...but when applied in many layers, can have significant results...I don't know how many years someone has been using somthing to any effect...and I really don't care...I will try myself...to experiment with it...and blind theory will teach me what I expect to acheive....a completely DEAD sound when driving...since the speaker is only 6" there is no need for PYRMID based foam in the rear chamber of the woofer...which can also be made of closed sell material...nuff said.

The woofer actaully posses a muddy sound to it...this is due to doppler distortion that the Higher Freq's can't replicate properly during peak transient peaks of higher freq's. Adding a fewl~ayers of closed cell foam should alleviate that annomoly...this procudecing a more cloured sound.

^ "Interesting" theory. Doppler distortion (specifically, since you tossed the term out there) eminates from the front of the driver. How would any form of damping on the back side of the driver control this? The cone still has to move and therefore the doppler effect will still be there. IMO doppler distortion is one of those terms people throw around but in reality is a non-issue. The only way to attempt to control it is to narrow the bandwidth of the driver.

Hey - put all the foam you want in your car, I couldn't care less. Come on here though and ask about it and you will receive opinions - and they should be considered regardless of what you believe you know.

I would recommend actually listening as you go though for your own education. One of my favourite sigs is Johns: In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is...

Both of you have an opinion. instead of getting mad shing, just do the tests, The right answer will come out in the end. Shing you gotta get your ego out of the clouds, man. And for the record i agree with DUKK.
