installing new amp for crossover component design

Hi, not sure what amp setup I should use for a crossover that will seperate/control the mid range, subwoofers, and high range sound output. I wanted to use two amps, now i'm thinking could I just use one 4 channel amp with the crossover wired before the 4 channel amp?

I want to make a system work with a crossover that has high/mid/sub control, with one or two amps, the smaller one for the mids and/or highs. Subs only have rms of about 200. Small system, need help please.

thanks.

If you want use only an active crossover you will need a channel per speaker. You could use a 5channel or 6channel amp or a 4channel for the highs and a 2ch or monoblock for the sub.

If you haven't bought the amps as yet...you might want to considder staggered power output for each range of speakers. example: 25x2 amp for the tweeters, 50x2 for the mids, and a mono 200 watt amp for the subs, or a 4channel 50x4 using the front 2 channels in stereo for the mids, and bridge the rear channels for a 200 watt sub channel (many 4 channel amps will bridge to quadruple the single channel output...like the Rockford p400-4) and get a small 25x2 amp for the tweeters.

I haven't bought any amps yet because i'm not quite sure how to wire everything.

...I like the idea of staggering output per channel. I did see a diagram with a 4 channel amp where 2 channels were bridged for 1 sub. And then could i use the other 2 channels for mids?

So i've considered this, running a 4 channel amp, 1 sub bridged mode, and then running 4 mids wired in parallel from the other 2 channels?

could i just run my highs (tweeters) from the little headunit amp then?

Also, I just need to make sure the ohms are all 4 ohms for all the speakers right? could i run the 4 mids at a 2 ohm load?

any diagram help or tuts would be tremendous help!
thanks alot.

You can do all those things, but how are you going to cross over the tweeters if you use the deck's amp? You can run the stereo channels at 2 ohms, to do so you need four 4 ohm mids to get a 2 ohm load per side (left and right).

I was thinking of putting a passive crossover/cap inline for the tweeters.

....another question for any 4 channel amp.

I've noticed that I was looking at a 4 channel it has filters for low, high, and full range. However for the mids i don't want low or high, and i only want mid range, not full range. I did see a frequency ***. Is there a particular amp thats suggested for 4 channels, want to stay around 200-400 rms range or better. trying to stay under 160 dollars us.
thanks so far.
