Installing new amp with old cap?

I'm replacing the amp and sub in my car using the old box and cap. I'm wondering if I should discharge the cap first before hooking it up to the new amp or will it be fine? I'm not sure if the cap will discharge into the amp when I hook it up and damage it.

I wouldent be to worried but discharge it for safety and so you don't get a big arc when you connect.....have you dune it recently?? The way you do it is with a lil resistor or some times a little light. And when you put it in it won't arc like madd

take out the fuse from the power wire. connect everything and put back the fuse. when the fuse connects it will spark a bit but its better than at the amp

with the little experience i have, there should be no sparking at all.

1. make sure the cap is charged, if it's still connected to the power line then it should be.
2. make sure nothing is hooked up to the amp so it will not be called to turn on.
3. hook up power and your set.
