Installnig AMP (new)
Installnig AMP (new)
Alright well I was interested in learning the install process of an amp+subs. But now that I'm going to get a car really soon I want to just clarify of what I'll be doing and if it is correct.
Okay so, I have 2 12" Fosgate subs 250 RMS 500 MAX and a 1000W JBL amp which would be fine, seeing as my sisters boyfriend had it in his mazda 3 before and everything seemed fine!
So I'll be installing this on my own. So I have an amp wiring kit and a LOC because I'll be using the factory head unit most likely.
This is how I will be installing it, I get the Power Wire from the battery then the fuse holder then run it through my firewall then down to the back of my car (trunk) where I want my amp. Then Next (this is where I would like some clarification) I take the remote wire from the switched 12V wire to the amp? Or since I'm using the LOC do I splice the remote wire to the LOC then to the amp? Because there is a fifth little wire on the LOC which I'm not sure if it's a ground or for the remote wire..
After that I splice the Speaker wires accordingly to the wires on the LOC..
And after that I have the RCA cables from the LOC to the amp. Then I hook up my ground wire to the amp and to a clean bolt as near to my amp as possible. And after I hook up my subs to the amp, which is bridged.
So this being said, is there anything I am missing or something I would be doing wrong?
Thanks

So the remote wire I splice into the switched 12v not into the LOC?
Yip..unless it's an LOC like I've never installed that for whatever reason needs switched power??....maybe list a make and model and someone with more experience with LOC's can let you know?
I personaly dont remove the ground before an install: why : I remove the positive because when you reconnect at leat the negative has a place to go. On the other hand when you Dc the negative and then replace it , it causes a spike and it may blow some fuses. Hope that helps
