Issues getting deck to boot up

Trying to install a Pioneer deh-4500mp into a 98 Chev metro and am having problems getting the deck to start-up. All wiring is right and there was previously an aftermarket deck in the car. Spliced into the existing harness but after testing with multimeter, cant seem to get voltage out of the old harness. The new deck is good as I tested it in my benz (switched the wiring harnesses) and the old deck was working well when it was taken out. THe old deck was a blapunkt that was probly one of the first to have a cd player! Help asap would be appreciated as I want to get it done tonight!
Thanks

Wow, you have a metro and a benz. Not a typical driveway pair.

As for your problem, it sounds like you have blown a fuse in your metro. If you can't get any power readings with your MM at the harness a fuse is blown. Check the wire to see if there is a bus fuse there. If not, go to the car's interior fuse panel and check the fuse on the radio/accessory circuit.

Check the fueses and also make sure that you are getting the remote (or 12V ignition)

from the looks of it the fuses were ok. It seemed like there were too few fuses in the fuse box though so I am going to look for another box or location. I have the remote and everything hooked up. The thing that is really bothering me is the fact that the previous deck was working fine now simply rewiring this one is being so painful!

If I am not mistaken, there is also a stereo fuse, under the hood on the drivers side!. CHeck that one as well...and another thing I know for a fact, fuses tend to look "good", but they can be blown..Just my 2cents

Agreed with Killer_Klown take a meter or test light and check all fuses its the last one you would suspect in most cases

I figured out what the problem was. It turns out that both the 12v switched and the power wire were switched. I have no idea why it was wired this way???? So I rewired the power so that it was direct rather than switched and connected everything up....worked perfect.
Thanks for the help.
