Issues with new system front speakers not working
So past few days have been pretty interesting. This is the first time puting aftermarket stereo stuff into my car, and I have 2 alpine type s 6.5, 2 alpine type r 6x9. running through the matching 4 channel amp. but only the 6x9s are running through the amp. Do i need to amp my 6.5 speakers to get them to work with my new head unit?

normally Head Units have a power amp build in that will supply 4 channels at 50 watts per channel. The head unit when installed should hook up to all your existing factory wiring that go out to each speaker location. so if you want your speakers to be powered off of the Head Unit then just wire them into the factory wiring at the speaker location, and make sure the connections are made on the back of the deck.
Now if your hooking an external amp into the mix to increase the power from the 50W supplied at the Head Unit, then there is a bit more wiring involved. if it is a 4 channel amp then it will have RCA inputs for front and rear. You can run the audio output from your deck to the external amp over the RCA's. The amp will then have the 4 ch output that will wire to each speaker location.
If you run the external amp you have to take into consideration the power supplied and the locations of the amp vs the speaker locations. It might be easier to run the RCA's to your amp then from your amp run new speaker wires to each speaker, this will give you the opportunity to put in a heavier gauge wire to handle the increased power. The alternative would to extend the factory speaker wiring from behind your Head Unit and run those and a set of RCA's directly to your external amp.
hope that helps

The deck is only going to put max 13wrms into the front speakers... Even the smallest V-Power Alpine amp runs 50wrms, so you are going to hear much more of the rears than the fronts, especially considering they are 6x9's out back and 6.5's up front (more cone area on 6x9's). Do you HAVE to amp the fronts externally, no. Would it sound better and make more sense if you did, I think so. 2 sets of RCA's from the deck to the amp (assuming your deck has 2 sets of pre-outs) and speaker wire from the amp to the speaks.
