Unhappy

Hi,need help with my amp install on a 2002 Cavalier. I'm using my amp (JBL BP600.1)with the stock CD player with it connected using the speaker level inputs. The problem I am having is that the Amp stays on all the time even without the rem wire hooked up. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to get a LOC so I use the rca jacks instead? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mariano

The remote terminal has to be seeing 12 volts somehow for the amp to remain on. Do you have the +12v and remote terminals reversed? Is there a strand or two from your power cable touching the remote terminal?

I check and nothing is touching the rem terminal. I Decided to unhook the high level inputs from my speakers to the amp and now when I hook up the power to the amp it doesn't come on until the rem. terminal is connected to a power source. I'm stumped, seems like the amp is designed to work like it does.

you have to have 12 volts constant to the power terminal and 12 volts to the remote from ignition , or remote turn on from aftermarket deck
amp will not work properly without seeing a signal to the remote terminal

what he's saying is that with no remote hitched up using speaker level in the amps stays on constantly

so have you tried it with rca inputs using a linelevel converter?

I went out today and bought a LOC and hooked it up with the rca jacks. It now turns on and off with the ignition switch.

i would say that your amp has voltage sense on the speaker level in then and this is normal operation

Does that meen that the amp is always on or is it just the lights on the amp that stay on. Seems like it would eventually drain the battery.
