I want to switch over my stereo that I already have installed in my Grand AM into my Cavalier.

I really have no clue what I'm doing as it wasn't me who installed it originally, but I want to give it a try. I don't have anything really complex here. I bought a new deck, so I'm not sure if my mounting kit will fit my new car (94 grand am compared to an 03 cavalier). and if i have to buy a new mounting kit, where can i grab one (that looks decent without the extra storage under it). also is there any additional wiring that i should buy for it, or is all the wiring that came with the deck sufficient?

also, i know i'll have to buy amplifier kit, and was wondering if anyone would approve this for my fosgate p3001:

and lastly, do any of you recommend using a capacitor? if so, would the Tsunami Lite Wave PP912UM-CAP be good for what i'm running?

I've got a kicker cvr 10, fosgate p3001 and pioneer deh-p690ub

the cap is totally up to you there really not a big help do to the quick discharge and slow recharge as far as your dash kit my install guide tells me its the same 4 both cars and so is the add on wiring harness as for your amp kit it should be at least 4 gauge

That blows, doesn't look like my dash kit will fit the cavalier because it has both cassette and CD. The pontiac only had a cassette player. theres that 1.5-2 inch gap that most kits use for a cd jewel case holder, which i think is really ugly.

i found one, that has a cover over it instead, but it also looks equally ugly...

I just wish they made one that splits the open space up between the bottom and top .. like this:

Take a look at the one used for the 880PRS deck install in my Sunfire (pics are on my SD page in my sig). The stereo in the Sunfire is coming out so if you like that kit you can have it and the wiring harness for cheap if you wish.

I gave up lookin for the perfect dash kit and just bought the one with the cd holder. it doesnt look too bad i guess........
