minor noise issues after new HU install.

I installed my new nakamichi cd400 today. all in all i think it went pretty well.

One issue though is a low amount of noise coming through only left front speaker, and only when the car is running.

The gain setting on the Boston Acoustics gt-40 amp is at the lowest possible level.

I also noticed that I am getting shocked every time I get out of the car now when i hit the ground and door.

Some kind of grounding issue I assume?

Ideas?

The deck is grounded using the same ground that the stock deck was using.

Thanks in advance.

the Boston Acoustics gt-40 amp have you tested it out of the car?(only left front)
grounding issue I assume maybe (did you undo the neg off the batter)

It started just today. The real work on this car was done in a shop, and had been setup with a step down unit to go from speaker level down to line level to go to the amp - this when I was using the stock HU (1995 Saab 900).

I got a wiring harness for this car and so the install of the new Nakamichi HU was a pretty easy matching of colours and soldering. The HU looks terrible in the dash cause i really don't know how to mount it flush (back to the shop for the pos to do that). But it will do for the road trip I am leaving on Friday.

I don't know what you mean by neg off the battery - you mean disconnect the ground completely? The amp was fine prior to my *work* on the car today - i.e. I hadn't noticed any noise at all.

I just tried out the AUX in (hooked my ipod up to it) it has a high pitched whine even when the car is not running?!

But it sounds great when the car is off, playing either the cd or radio, and the line noise when the car is on is pretty minor. The AUX-in noise is not minor though - guess I won't be using my ipod for this trip.

Thanks.

It is odd that it is only one speaker. Maybe you should get your speaker connections checked/redone. Other than that, possibly run a ground from your deck straight to your dash (steel support) or straight to your battery terminal.
