noise in speakers after amp install help

Hi All

Could you please let me know if you think I am in the right direction. I have 2010 xlt crew. I replaced all speakers and ran them of the stock head unit for a couple of weeks with no problems. I then installed a memphis 4 channel amp and hooked up only the right speakers to the amp (I am using the high level inputs not rca's). I then decided to check if everything so far sounds ok. With engine off there is a high pitch whine on the speakers hooked up to the memphis amp, even with the volume at low. I have my sub woofer amp (seperate amp) using the same ground point. The subwoofer works well with no noise. I assume this is because the subwoofer is a lower frequency. I then started the truck and even more noise on door speakers . Turn heater on and it gets worse. I assume I have a bad ground on my amp. i am going to try to rectify this. Do you think that is the problem or should I look elsewhere. I removed the main fuse to the amp to prevent any possible damage. I still have the left side hooked up to the stock head unit

I'd check the grounds too. Maybe the gain is set wrong on the amp too, try turning it down to see if the sound goes away. Usually, loud wine noise is almost always a ground problem. It usually isn't too apparent with the engine off though.

I believe my problem is the stock hu is putting out noise to the inputs of the amp. How do I use an ipod to confirm that this is the problem.

Question

If you are only running the signal thru one side of the amp the whole setup is unbalanced.....it may not be too happy to be running like that....which begs the question...How do you have it hooked up? All the 4 channel amps I've used only have a pair of stereo speaker level inputs for all 4 channels.

Finish hooking up the other speakers to the amp and get a signal to the unused channels....once you have all 4 speakers running off the amp the noise may diminish or go away completely.....

If you are keeping the factory deck I would suggest you get LOCs for all 4 channels. Hook them up to the speaker leads behind the deck and run RCAs to the amp.

To test only the amp unhook the deck from the amp and use the RCA inputs to hook up the Ipod (with the required cable of course).
