mounting smaller speakers in stock locations - install advice
my stock camry comes with 2 tweeters, and 4 6X9's - 2 in the front doors and 2 in the rear deck.
i have 2 install options that im looking at
1) 2 6.5" component sets in the front and 2 6.5'' full-range speakers in the back (dont want rear 6 X 9's to overpower front setup) with 4-channel amp
or
2) just keep the factory tweeters in and replace all 4 6X9's and 4-channel amp
the second option is a little more cost effective....but i was wondering which setup will sound better and by how much, and will I run into any problems mounting smaller 6.5's in the 6X9 locations

As for the tweeters.... ......hook them up and if you have to, blow 'em up.....
A decent set of tweeters could set you back around $100 or so, raise the soundstage back up and handle the amp power no problem......
Nice car for audio....bet it would sound pretty good in there with just the 6 aftermarket speakers running full-range off the amp.....

Where did u find out the stock speaker size in the Camry front door is 6x9??...They're definitely 6.5" speakers up front behind the door panels if your cam is 1992+ model........
And for the rear speakers the size isn't truly a 6x9 hole, but its fairly easy to to make a 6x9 work...
If you need help getting to the stock speakers check out this link for repair manuals on whatever gen cam u have: http://www.camrymanuals.com/
Good luck..

I also must question the 4 6x9 in a camry
at the moment I am not aware of a 6x9 that sounds good (just because I have not looked a that size as an SQ option) but there are MANY 6 inch drivers that sound excellent. I generally make mounting plates out of plywood or MDF (i.e. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6cY2R2JsEHO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?wm=fp&I=065SL80&g=51900 ) and mount a driver I have or like into a hole that is too big.
If you find a good SQ 6x9 clue me in
