Okay this 2 forad cap has 6 slots, 3 for positive.. 3 for negative but thats really irrelevant.

I am suppose to 'charge' up the cap but it came with this small liittle light thing and I'm kinda scared to touch the 12v with the light and the cap..

I don't see why I can't just connect it directly and leave it.

then start up my car..

the cap is currently connected to my chassis and my amp, if I do charge it can I leave my amp connected to it?

Ok this brings back memories (read nightmares) of when I tried to install a cap the first time. The reason you can't just connect it directly is it needs to be slowly charged the first time. I don't know why though. What you will do is install everything like normal, hook up a ground from the chassis to one of the neg terminals on the cap, then take the positive from your battery and hook it up to the light that came with the cap. Then hook the other wire from the light to the positive terminal of the cap. That will slow charge it to around 9-10 volts. After that is done you can remove the light and connect direct to the cap. Then you just run wires from the + & - from the cap to your amp and you are done. Did the instructions say what to look for when the light is hooked up to tell you it is charged? Try that and let me know if it worked for you.

PS do not have your amp hooked up to the cap while charging it.

thats what i read to figure out how to do it, and theres pictures which is always a plus. after its charged you can leave it in your car. mine is there all the time, and when i start the car it beeps to tell me its on, and then when i turn it off it beeps to say its powering down. you might notice if there is a display on the cap that it might stay on after you turn off your car. my assumption is thats normal as mine usually shuts off within 5 minutes

yeah forgot that, disconnect your amp. and if it does only charge to 9 volts or so when you start your car it should go up to the required voltage, either 14.4 or 13.8 i think. the first time i charged mine i was with a friend and i told him he couldn't read because he kept saying the cap only had 10 volts, so then we turned on the van and it went to 14+
