Question Need Help, Power settings...

Alright, couple of questions.

1) I'm wondering if I need a new alternator. This might sound funny, but I have 94 voyager (minivan) (3.3L) stock alternator. I'm running a shitty name 1000watt 4 ch amp. In the manual under specs it says "At idle: 0.6A", and "Full Power Sine Wave (rms): 30AX2". Anyways, I have no idea what that means or if it will help you answer my question lol. Let me know

2) My headunit has 4.0V preouts. The amp gains are adjustable from 200mV to 3.5V, what should my gain be set to?

Thanks

first thing u might want to check for is light and dash dim. If your lights don't dim when the volume is decently high then u don't need one. Or at least a second battery. Sometimes the dim can mean that your alternator is having trouble supply enought power to everything in the vehicle.

1) Does the amp have fuses on the side? If not it will usually recommend a fuse size in the manual. A little googleing tells me that your alternator could be either 90 amp or 120 amp (optional). Your best bet would be to get thepartnumber off of it and call a dodge dealership parts counter.

2) Run the gains all the way down. You may have to attenuate the output on the deck slightly as well, but there is no way to tell until it is all installed and tested. You may induce clipping with too high an input signal, so watch what you set those gains at!
