Need some help figuring out what blew my sub
Definitely, if your deck has a clipped signal going out from it, then the amp passed that clipped signal onto the speakes and soon you have smelly speaker syndrome. If you plan on tasking this system this hard, a good cd player with a non clipping output and good source material is a must. A speaker does not blow on it's own, something must cause it to. In this case, it was how the system was more than likely used and matched together.
Forget the line driver, just get a deck and then be careful with the speaker. If you smell it buring, it is probably buring, turn it down LOL.
Also when your lights are dimming really badly, the amp isn't getting enough power most likely, so it will more than likely put out a bit more of a clipped signal. Couple that with an already clipped signal from ur factory deck and you could have the reason why it blew.
Sorry to hear about the W7 though, hope your new one lasts a bit longer.
