New car, new stereo to go in :)

Well the wife and I spoiled eachother this Christmas and we bought a 1976 Datsun 280z as our present.
The car has been restored to fantastic shape and one of the only things it needs (IMO anyway) is a better stereo.
The car has a crappy deck in it (i can deal with that) and some 6x9's in boxes in the hatch which totally drives me nuts since i'm used to only low end fill coming from behind my ears.
The doors have speaker grills on them as if there are speakers in the doors already but when i faded the music to the front there was no sound coming from them at all.
Conveniently enough I have a set of Focal 165v's sitting on my shelf in the garage but i'm not sure if the doors will accomidate(sp?) the 6.5" speakers either by depth or overall size. After that I was thinkin of adding a single woofer to the back (8" only to save space, gotta fit golf clubs and/or a weekend bag for the two of us in it still ) to give the rest of the body that i'm used to. For amp'ing I was thinking space savings and using a single 4channel amp, 2 chan for the fronts and bridge the rears for the sub. Is there any real benefit to going to a mono and a stereo amp? or do you think that the 4chan will be ok?
I'm not going for SPL by any means as SQ is something that means a decent amount to me as i run focal 165v2s and a 10w6 in my Daily driver.

Thoughts comments? concerns?

oh and here's the car

First of all very sweet car man. And I think a nice 4/3 channel set would work great I there without taking up to much space or tearing up the interior a whole lot. Thats all you really need in a cabin that small.

thats a real pretty little car you got there, congrats on the present.

take my advice with a grain of salt, because its been years since i played with a Z car, but the doors probably wont take the 6.5" focals as far as depth is concerned.
there maybe room behind the seats for a couple 6.5" or 8" subs and iirc, there was a subfloor on those early cars? perhaps there is room for a good sized 4 channel.

bridging two channels to the subs is a perfectly acceptable way to power a sub as long as the amp is built for it, you just need to set your low pass filter and rock out.
