I see what you are saying now..no.. there is no "free" space.. that dark circle is the outline to a ring of plastic that goes back to the mid. I think I can mount the cup and trim ring ON the grille itself. It will involve the hole being drilled in the door but it will look nice.

Looks nice Bzzliteyr. Couldn't get it further away from the mid?

I hope it sounds good for you.

If I had centered it on the grill it would be teetering on the edge that is there. Had I put it on the lower part, it would be shooting sound to my feet. I fit it and tried it out. The speaker hits the back of the tweeter so I have to take a quarter inch off of the speaker ring on the door, nothing too hard.

Fever.. I am confused.. don't people want the mid and tweet to be near each other? isn't that the ideal spot for them? If you put the tweet to far away you only get highs in that spot? I don't know but it does sound good in my ears.. and once the whole system is hooked up (5.1) it'll be sweet I am sure..

Hey Bzz, no confusion intended.
Yes it's generally better to keep the two drivers close together. I just meant a little further up and to the right (from the picture's perspective) within the grill. Just so it's not in front of the mid so much. I didn't elaborate in my last post.

When I was doing the exact same thing just a short while ago I tried to find a place close to the mid and pointed toword the dome light in the centre of the roof. This helped bring the stage up nicely. That's why I suggested the kicks.

Looks good. The 5.1 should be real sweet.

Oh, if I had moved it up to the right.. then it would have been hit by the speaker on loud bass tunes. As it is right now, I had to take 1/2" off my trim ring to keep it from hitting.. but it sounds really nice now..

Maybe I will take some pics of the work in progress and let everyone see how it's coming.. not that 00civic wants me to.. hehe
