Heh everyone, great to see a Canadian discussion board on this

So... as a first post to the board, hate to ask, but....

How do I wire up this stereo???

I just bought a 97 GMC Yukon 4 door, and the stock stereo system was shot. So, I ended up finding:
</font>
  • 2 Kenwood 2 ch amps (used KAC-629S')
    4 Sony XS-V1640H 6 1/2" speakers for the doors
    2 Kicker K410 4"x10" speakers for the rear roof mounts.
    Phoenix Gold TSX4404 - 750W-KF style-dual amp kit w/RCA's & speaker cable
    Brix SIRIUS Plug and Play Streamer satellite Radio</font>

The head unit is factory GM, but I am looking at the JVC DV 5000 head unit which is MP3/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD Compatible. The reason I am looking at this unit is for the dvd capabilities, price of course, dual zone capabilities, etc..

I know the contents aren't the best, but for the price, they were better than the wrecked factory items. The satellite radio can be hooked in to a head unit via RCA cable, and down the road, hoping for an LCD screen for the backseat.

So... from the head unit, one line to one amp, two front door speakers then briged to a rear 4x10? Run the second line to the rear door speakers, then bridge to last 4x10?

Will the bridging (?) reduce the load (?) to the 4x10 to 1 ohm which is not good?

Really, really lost on this, and it's been about 15 yrs since I've done anything with stereos, so please be kind to a newbie on this (heck, I don't even know if I have enough speaker line outs)

Any info, even the simplist of explanations will help this rookie ...

Thanks

Ahhh... but will it screw up my fader controls if I run them off the deck, as opposed to running them with the rear amp (where all four would be the rear set)?

Thanks for the reply... still learning...ha...slowly..

I'm new at the instale side too but use the pre out/ rca to the amps. Yes it sound tricky to get the rear rear not to fade with the rest of the system. Being an pasanger I'd be happy that great sound was hapening. Does it realy matter in staging on the rear. I'd do as Dukk said. And all the rear would be the rear.
