Noob Question :P

Hey new to the forum here, was looking for some professional advice. I've lurked google for a while on some information, but I find forum advice is always good.

I am currently building my FIRST setup in a 2001 Malibu.

What I already have:
Alpine MRD 1000M MonoBlock ( 1000rms@ ohms / 500rms @ 4 ohms)
StreetWires 1.0 Power Station Capacitor
Alpine 9886 CD/MP3 Deck

What I am looking to get:
1 12" Type-X ( 4 ohms )
Ported Enclosure

I don't have any of the wires, and its on stock battery. Nothing is setup either, my question is.. what else am I going to need... I know I need all the cables, but any width and recommended brand would be greatly appreciated.

Is the amp able to hookup to my Type-X and feed it proper amount of power?
If so is it too much power that I might need a new alternator/battery?

Any links on good sites for information on basic wiring would be appreciated as well, sorry if I sound new.. just late in the game.

Good link, but is someone able to somewhat simplify the wires.. thats the only thing I don't know, what wires I need to hook the amp to capacitor/subs/battery etc

Its better to provide your speaker more power than its capable of. IE more powerful amp than your speaker is rated for.

This way the amp is easily able to provide a good strong signal at higher volume levels without clipping.

Ive been told that its worse for your speaker when the amp starts clipping and distorting, than when the speaker does it.

I could be wrong about this, I'll await a more professional opinion, but I've always overpowered my speakers, and just respected their limits.

I've had great bass with my home theatre system like this, and its always a good crisp clean bass, even at high volumes.

I'm in Oshawa, so its not to bad of a drive. What I am wondering is if, I feed the type x the full 1000 watts.. will it even be worthy bass (of course with proper wires and enclosure). If not, should I be looking in the 2000 watts amplifiers?

With that amp you will want a sub that runs at 2ohms not 4. At 4ohms you are only going to get 500rms from your amp. Look for a sub that is rated at 800-1000 wrms @ 2ohms and it should just pound in the right box. Unless it is dual 4ohm voice coil, I checked Alpine's site and it looks like it is single 4ohm. If they have a dual 4ohm then it will be perfect.
