(I am talking about the small wires with a buldge in the middle that are supposed to block low frequencies)

I just bought some of these because when i turn up the bass on my head unit my speakers sound horrible. The two wires leading to the speaker aren't marked so i cut the brown wire hoping it was the positive wire. Then I connected a passive crossover within that wire and i turned on the head unit and no bass was blocked. So i cut the white wire, connected the brown, and did the same thing to the white wire. But still no bass was blocked. Am i missing something? Cuz it isn't working and i was beginning to get really tweaked. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

4 x 6 speakers, and it says 800hz at 40 ohm and 400hz at 80 ohm. And i think it is a capacitor. It doesn't say exactly what it is anywhere but it looks like a closed tube with wire coming out each end.

go buy a 100 uf 100 volt cap and put that on your positive lead for the speaker.

I figured it ment 4.0/8.0 ohms because i have never heard of the resistance being over 12 ohms. But then again i am just getting into car audio stuff so i thought i may be wrong.

I am getting a sub, i thought that this crossover would stop all bass going to my speakers so that when i turn up the volume my sub would handle the low frequencys and my regular speakers would handle my highs without bass distortion. I thought no low frequencies would get through even if i had bass boost on. Thnx alot for your help.
