pioneer avh-p2400bt backup camera problems
hey all.
just installed the pioneer avh-p2400bt in my 2000 jimmy.
works awesome and has the view in motion relay in it.
i decided to pickup a cheap rearview camera and my problem is now my reverse lights are on all the time.
i at first ran the reverse wire from the deck to the back tailights and hooked into the green wire on the reverse bulb along with the red wire from my camera.
i ran the black wire from camera to a ground on the body.when i turned it all on the camera came on with being put in reverse gear but after about 20 secs it will switch off the turn back on in a loop even when driving.
i googled and found out to just run the reverse wire from deck to the reverse bulb wire and hook the red camera wire to a key accessory wire so the camera will be on all the time and when put in reverse the monitor switches to the cam view(i actually like it this way as i can turn the camera view on and off at anytime with the deck and can see towing trailers) but now my reverse lights are on all the time.
anyone have any ideas what may be the problem? with the way i have it now it does run the cam off and on every 20 secs or so but i can turn it off by deck if i dont want it on

i can turn the camera view on and off with the rearview mode on the deck or do you think i need to use a toggle switch to get the reverse lights to go off?

To get rid of the reverse light problem you need to take the wire going to the reverse lights out of the picture and simply put an on/off toggle switch in place and go to the accessory wire for power on the other side of the switch.

ok ,i wired the reverse wire from hu to a switch then to an acc power in the fuse panel, now the radio is on when the ignition is off.i dont know how that can be.
i have the camera wired to a seperate acc power in fuse panel.
theres got to be a way to wire it correctly to come on when put in reverse,it kinda defeats the purpose of having that feature otherwise

Something isn't wired right if your deck stays on without the key. Your prurple/white wire (Reverse from deck) goes to the switch the other side of the switch goes to an Accessory source. Don't go to the fuse block, At your Ignition harness there is a brown wire that is an Accessory wire, this wire will be around 10guage, use that
thanks
