playing with fiberglass and MDF
#1
Hello all,
This is my first attempt at using fiberglass for anything other than fixing race car body panels(CASCAR), and even then, somebody else did that more often. Any way, this is going to be a centre console extension to house the back-up camera monitor for my camper. In hind sight I should have left the side panels solid and only glassed the bottom and back(console) end.
I ended up taking that fleece off after I screwed up and didn't get it to soak through, it was REALLY thick. I put and old T on there now and I'm waiting for the weather to break to get back to it. (Can't mix resin in the garage with the doors closed, it goes through the whole house)
This is the box I'm making for under the large side rear seat in my supercab. Fits a 10" Cobalt for now. It's about 0.735 cubic feet without taking the sub frame off the total. Any thoughts on a replacement for the Cobalt(besides stepping into this century )???

that looks really great! For recommendations I would say elemetal designs subwoofers (that are sold at www.genuinecanadianaudio.com great for the money imo. and they work really well in small sealed enclosures such as the one you have there.

I picked up a 4 litre of resin today at the local CrossCanada auto body supply store. $57 +taxes sound not bad for "Evercoat" brand??? Also, does age of the resin matter less with a higher quality product??? I was afraid that the local boat places would have old stock sitting around from the winter and figured the autobody place would have a "fresher" supply.

Thank you both for your input.
Dukk- I thought it was a little high but I got some high build primer at the same stop and it was on the way home from work.
Thanks again and hopefully the weather allows me to work on these soon.
