I've decided I need to re-locate the factory radio to maintain the OnStar, RAP & Chimes. I've spent almost 2 months looking/waiting for interfaces, but the 4 manufacturers I’ve had contact with, still don't have interfaces for the '06 Monte Carlo. (One manufacturer finally admitted that coming soon, means maybe 6 months).
So, i started searching for a wire harness to put the GM radio in the trunk. Apparently, i need to maintain the front Bose amp and at least 1 speaker for OnStar.
I haven't found any harness that says it will work on the '06. Anybody got Any Ideas? Would it be a bad thing to cut/splice just the wires I need?
I also bought a wiring chart that was pretty useless. It says that the "Accessory power is controlled by the class 2 serial network". Duh, I knew that, now how do I find an output that I can run a relay from?
Any advice will help.
The new car is nice but I really, really miss my Alpine/Pioneer system and I’ve got new Kickers sitting in my bedroom I haven't even tried yet.

 

Another question... Why can't I just take an output from the factory radio bose amp and bridge it into the speaker level input of my front amps? Wouldn't that give me chimes and onstar through my new system speakers? Anybody ever tried this?

Keep the factory radio in the vehicle. Use a Audio Control 6XS as the interface adaptor. Take your factory speaker or preamp lines from the deck, solder on rca ends and plug it in. That is it, you are done with a proper and advanced LOC. It then adds a subwoofer level control, line driver and a great crossover. Your factory onstar and chimes will work as normal.

My worry about that is; can it be as good as my Apline 9855?
Plus, I didn't buy the factory CD changer because i have 2 Alpine changers, a new 6 pack and an old 12 pack.
I have a KCA-400 to switch between the 2 players.
Somewhere in all my searching, I've seen an adaptor to make an alpine changer work with a factory radio but i don't remember where?

 

Soundgate may have a interface adaptor for your vehicle. The factory radio will sound great. After that, pour your time and $ into proper mounting and positioning of the speakers. Use some good sound deadener, Black Hole has proven to be the shiznit for me here.

 

Could always try to find an Alpine CRA-1656SP line-level changer controller with aux input for your factory radio. I use one
