Single sub placement question (SQ)
#1
Hi!
I got a single 12" Eurosport CDT and I have a 4 door civic 98. I will built a box out of mdf for the sub firing toward the front, just behind the back seat. My seats is a 60/40 kind, 60 beeing on the driver side.
My question is: I would like to open the back seat part with the sub only behind and I was wondering what side I should put it? Logically, the driver side would be ideal I think but it's the 60 side and sometime I have to drive my 2 kids to school (I know, I could just put it up while I have them), but also because it has the middle part, it does'nt rest flat with the bottom part (the rest of the time).
What if I put it on the passenger side (40 seat, rest perfectly flat, looks neater, could even remove that seat permanently)? Would I notice a difference in "imaging/staging" in the position of the sub? Is a sub a little directional?
Thank you for your input. Waiting on that to proceed construction of everything...

The sub is not directional. It will radiate almost perfectly 360 degrees.
The placement of the sub will determine what kinds of phase cancellations you'll get from the reflected waves.
Generally, as close to the opposite corner from the listener, will produce the best phase results, maximum output, hence lower power and distortion.
