Skipping cds???

I recently took my amp and subs out of an old vehical (98 Jimmy) and installed it in my new truck (02 dakota). The only thing I replaced was my deck. I bought a Panasonic cq-c7401u. The deck seems to work fine, but when I turn up my music, the bass seems to make the cd skip. This was not a problem in the Jimmy, and I was wondering if this is a common problem in a truck (smaller cab space), did I buy a lousy deck, or will some well placed dynamat fix the problem?! Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated.
If it matters, I installed it myself, but the deck seems to be very sturdy in the slot.
Thanx very much!

Does it do it when it's hot in the car? The cd player could be cold (do you park it outside), or even dirty inside. Try a cd cleaner too.

I don't have any back brace on the deck. The inside of the dash is rather hollow, and there in no factory back brace. The deck is brand new (3 days). I live in Calgary and park it outside. It has been cold, but it seems to do it, even when the car has been parked in a heated garage at work all day. Is there a way to make your own brace w/out gutting the entire dash? Or a way to fill the space between the deck and inside of the dash, to give it some support?
Thanx for your continued input!

use metal strapping, and bolt it to the back of the deck(there should be a bolt hole on the back of the deck for this and bolts or a screw with the deck's packaging). Secure it to a bolt or screw in the dash behind the deck, and I like to also use some closed cell foam under the deck as extra support and cushion. Make sure you perforate the foam to allow deck heat to escape and air to circulate on the botton of the deck to keep it cool. That should solve your skipping problem. I have not had a deck skip in years, even on really bumpy roads, and even potholes.

Talking Great tips!

Thank you very much for your help. I will definately try the metal strapping. I know I have a spot in the back of the deck, and I'm sure I can find one in the dash too! I appreciate your responce and will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again!!

i read in an other thread that it might be your deck isnt getting enough power out of your stock wire harness
you will have to run a wire direct to the batterie
