Sorry Noobie Question

Hi Guys I plan on running two dual voice coild subs from kicker. These ones here...

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/kicker-kicker-compvr-12-car-subwoofer-10cvr122-10cvr122/10141877.aspx?path=4266b82f02e316d21cff02558e0cd5b een02

I know I pretty well have to run them series/parallel to keep them at 2 ohms. My only problem is I don't know how powerful of a sub to use. They are rated at 400 watts nominal. But since I will be running a series/parallel set-up how much amp do I need. If I do my uneducated math, I believe I need a 800 watt at 2 ohm amp. Am I right? Thanks for any help you guys can lend.

the amount of power you want to run is up to you, just make sure the amp is stable at 2ohms

One more question. It appears the subs I originally wanted aren't instock so I think I'm going to go with two 12 inch kickers 4 ohms each but single voice coil. So I'm going to run them in series to bring it to two ohms. Their specs are 150 watts RMS 300 watts max. I don't want to be disappointed how much power would give me a good boom. I was looking at the kicker mono amp 275 watts at 2 ohms. Would 275 watts accomplish what I'm looking for with two 12 inch subs in series. I want a good deep boom.

Correction, you will wire them in PARALLEL to bring them down to two ohms. Each sub is 150rms so both will be 300rms. Get an amp that does 500W @ 2 ohms for "boom" factor plus a little headroom.

Also the enclosure is a huge part of what gives you "boom". You need to have a proper ported enclosure if you want good "boom", preferably custom made. Get someone to draw you up a box for those subs. If anyone doesnt do it on this site, pm me I know someone that designs top notch boxes.

Get the most power amp you can afford more power isn't going to blow the subs, Also box design will play a huge factor as well.
