sound Deadener vs. Oil Spray
How would a souind deadening substance affect/not affect a car that needs to be, or has been, oil sprayed- rustproofed??
For example, my truck is/has been Krown rustproofed twice a year, but I was considering using something like spray-on sound deadener instead. Is this feasible? I mean, the couple 100 bucks it would cost to do this once, is cheaper than the 200 or so every year that goes to Krown. Would it provide the same level of protection? Would it affect any of the mechanical things on the underside of the car/truck, like brakes, suspension, etc.??
I would assume, though I could be wrong, that a 1/8th inch coating of rubberized gook which is supposedly impenetrable would function better than the dripless oilsprays?
Antyone done this? Results? Opinions?
Just curious,
Cheers,

Well I can't talk about other products because I don't know what aditives and such they have but I can talk about my product as a basis for your question.
A product such as mine contains rush inhibitors to prevent rusting and it produces a waterproof solid coating. Its actually makes a great undercoat if you make sure to get it in every nook and crany. Plus you get the same deadening as if you removed all your carpet and deadened the floor.
There is one problem though, the bottom of the car has to be good an clean. This is really easy if the car is a new one but if you have been getting something like rust check done every year its not going to be easy at all to clean. If you want to do this I would look for someplace that can steam the bottom of the car to remove any oil and grease. Then wire bruch any loose debrise off, clean one more time and then apply the coating.
Remember though, I am only able to talk about the X-terminator brand product. I don't know the anti-rust ability and durability of the other products on the market.
