Speakers too deep

Hi

My front speakers in my 2000 honda accord are too deep to fit in. Is there anyway to fix this? Can I add a spacer or something?

Cheers

Yes, you can make a simple ring for the speakers out of mdf and cutting it out with a jigsaw.

I hear some guys go to the dollar store and pickup plastic cutting boards to make rings...so as not to use wood

unless u have a huge amount of water in your door the mdf ring will last will outlast ur car. even better just treat it. add some fiberglass resin to it. use a sealer.. even just paint it.

or use steel lol

MDF is nice because it doesn't resonate like a plastic cutting board will. I have had MDF rings in my Tacoma for years and my truck sees a lot of mud pits and river crossings and every year or so when I take the door apart to look at things they are just like the day they went in. If your door leaks then you have more to worry about then the MDF soaking up water.

MDF handles humidity and small volumes of water passing over it just fine when you have the issue is when it's in direct contact with any amount of water for more than a short period of time.
