I am in the middle of putting a system in my truck. my component speakers, and 6by9's came with wireing. it seems to be a little small( smaller that 16awg) i have a buncha 16awg monster cable that i could use if its needed, or will the stuff that came with them be fine?

Depends on the power you are sending to your speakers. My general rule of thumb is if it is less than 50watts RMS (real power from a real amp, not deck watts) then the factory wiring is fine.

Upgrading rarely hurts but it doesn't always add anything.

^^^ I agree, that's a fairly time consimmuing job, at least to do it right, so unless you are going to see, or hear a gain, I'd hold off..
