....but he may have to pay someone for their time, knowledge, skill..... After all, he can probably fix this with under $0.10 of hardware (18" of wire and one or two ring terminals)

 

But I'm trying to be a hack like you Dukk. Plus after I saw an amp installed by a "pro" that was grounded to the back of a speaker, I rarely put faith in them any more.

p.s. grounding the rca's would cost me only my time as I have everything I need laying around the house

You know what would be the worst part about this whole thing? If you told me how to fix this and it worked lol. That would be a slice of humble pie I think I'd be glad to eat hahaha.

 

Sidenote, I think tomorrow I'm going to try troubleshooting the RCAs one more time before taking it to a shop. I've been told to check the pico fuse in the deck, which to me sounds like more trouble than I need right now, so I'm also going to try swapping decks. Luckily Pioneer all seem to use the same harness so I'm gonna take the deck out of my gf's car and see if the noise disappears, only problem I can see there is the pre out voltage being different, but at least then I'll know if its the deck or if its the cable.

Weeknd I'm making a new ground too and praying that after Saturday I never have to worry about this.

 

I've had similiar effects from my current and past Kenwood deck... pull the deck out, solder wire to rca shields, ground to chasis of headunit (this way no one has to see them - like the other option, grounding them at the amps) Without doing this I would sometimes even hear the actual cd mechanism and my subs would flutter if the amps were on but the volume was at 0... When you ran the wires for the deck, did you use the ground wire from the harness or did you run your own?
