Sub + Amp Install (First timer!)
#11
The main problem I am having now is running the power cable / RCA cables / remote wire into the trunk. This car's trunk is basically a shell with no holes in it. So I was thinking of drilling in my rear rack. I did find a hole behind a bunch of carpet and panelling... it looks like it's for the signal cables/brake lights. I was thinking feeding the cables through the same path as the signal light cable using a coat hanger, but it seems like a tight fit. Plus I still have to pry open a side panel inside the car just to get at that passageway. Drilling seems like the easiest way.

Well, good news... it's all set up and working! Turns out the plugs are the ones where you just screw/pinch the wire. I even snapped one of my RCA cables when I was trying to fish it into the trunk. Had to solder it back together. I finished hooking the amp up to the subs, but I haven't been able to adjust any gains yet. Already it sounds really good and I am getting some sweet bass from the subs. So... if anyone has any questions about wiring a whole stereo in a 1994 Dodge Spirit you can send me a PM, and I'll try to help you out.

One last question, what does adjusting the voltage gain on the amp do? It looks like it goes 2, 3, 5.5, 6 volts or something like that on one of those little dials. Will I cause any harm if I turn it up to 6? I think it's at around 3 right now. I just don't know how it affects output or whatever.
