Sub Box Square?

This is potentially going to be a dumb question, but I figured I'd ask it before I started my new install (actually trying to do a proper one this time).

Does a sub box have to be squareish/rectangularish in order for the sub to sound good? Or as long as it has proper cubic volume, should it sound good?

I'm looking at doing a U shape with 3 rectangles. One at the top, where the sub will be, then two coming off the ends....almost like a wrap around the trunk, but instead of taking up one big chunk of space, I want to it out along the walls of the trunk. Will this work?

Thanks in advance for any answers, even if they are just to tell me I'm an idiot

It will work fine as long as the openings into the other sections are not too small.

Sweet, that's what I was thinking.

I was going on the thought that a sub works by moving air inside and outside the box...it shouldn't care where that air volume is, as long as it's the proper volume and can move it inside the box...

Thanks MrSector9

indeed, as long as there is a non restricted passsage for it to travel through. When you start restricting the amount of air is when the sub will appear to be in a smaller box. (if sealed that is)
